
Mangaluru, November 13, 2024: Nitte (Deemed to be University) will be hosting its 14th Annual Convocation for its graduates on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM. The grand event will take place at the KSHEMA Grounds, situated on the University’s Deralakatte campus. This significant occasion marks the culmination of the academic journey for a large number of students, who will be receiving their degrees in various disciplines.
The convocation ceremony will be presided over by the Honorable Chancellor of Nitte University, Sri N. Vinaya Hegde. The convocation address will be delivered by Surgeon Vice Admiral Dr. Arti Sarin AVSM, VSM, the Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). Her address is expected to inspire the graduates, as she shares insights from her distinguished career in the medical field.
The event will also be attended by several esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty, the Pro-Chancellor for Hospital Management at Nitte University, and Sri Vishal Hegde, the Pro-Chancellor for Administration. Additionally, Prof. Dr. M. S. Moodithaya, the Vice Chancellor of Nitte University, will deliver the welcome address, setting the tone for the ceremony. Other notable officials such as Dr. Harsha Halahalli, the Registrar of the University, and Prof. Dr. Prasad B. Shetty, the Controller of Examinations, will also be present, along with the Heads of Nitte University’s constituent colleges and members of the University’s Executive Council and Academic Council.

A total of 1,052 graduates will be conferred degrees during the ceremony, spanning a variety of disciplines. Among the graduates, 34 students will be awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), while the Medical faculty will see 163 graduates (15 postgraduates and 148 undergraduates). In the field of Dentistry, 147 students will receive their degrees (including 1 fellowship, 49 postgraduates, and 97 undergraduates). The Faculty of Pharmacy will confer degrees to 209 graduates (107 postgraduates and 102 undergraduates), while 143 Nursing graduates (5 postgraduates and 138 undergraduates) will also be recognized.
The Faculty of Physiotherapy will award degrees to 85 graduates (30 postgraduates and 55 undergraduates), while 146 graduates from Allied Health Sciences will be conferred degrees (42 postgraduates, 100 undergraduates, and 4 with Post Graduate Diplomas). The Humanities faculty will award 14 degrees (6 postgraduates, 3 undergraduates, and 5 Post Graduate Diplomas). In Biological Sciences, 49 graduates will receive degrees (45 postgraduates and 4 undergraduates), while the Faculty of Architecture will award degrees to 41 undergraduates. Additionally, 15 graduates from the Speech and Hearing program (all postgraduates) and 6 Business Administration graduates (all postgraduates) will also be honored.
In recognition of academic excellence, Nitte University will award 22 prestigious Gold Medals to its most outstanding students, including 11 Nitte University Gold Medals and 11 Endowment Gold Medals. Furthermore, 72 Merit Certificates will be presented to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance across various disciplines. These awards highlight the commitment to academic excellence that Nitte University encourages among its students.
The 14th Annual Convocation of Nitte University will be a momentous occasion that not only celebrates the academic achievements of the graduates but also serves as an important milestone for the University as it continues its mission to provide quality education and contribute to the development of skilled professionals across various fields.
